About Zoe

Zoe was a rescue pup who caught my eye one fateful adoption Saturday at a local PetSmart. She was
the only dog not clamoring for attention in her cage, but sat quietly, almost stoically, as most shoppers
gravitated to the other more boisterous dogs. I wasn't planning on adopting a dog that day but I had
been mentally prepping for the idea. When I saw her (yes, across a crowded room) there was an
immediate pull--I felt in my bones that she was a special girl. She wasn't sure of me at all, and simply
wanted to return to her cage when I took her for a little stroll in the parking lot. But there was a strength
of character in her that I could not walk away from. So I signed the papers and in a couple days
brought her home with me. She was probably 8 months old at the time and now she is almost 10
years. I am grateful to her every single day of my life. Yes, being a good dog parent is a life-changing
responsibility but it's a life-changing gift as well. She is a constant source of joy and has patiently
taught me to be a better parent and happier me. She is a bundle of love, smart as a whip, and ever
the optimist. Like her mom, she is also quite stubborn, and this is where a lot of life-lessons have
come to light. I look back on that adoption day as one of the luckiest days of my life. I could not have
begun to imagine how much richer life was about to become when Zoe entered the picture. And now,
we celebrate each day with chasing squirrels, lots of snuggles, miles of adventure walks and loads
of wags and belly rubs. Thank you, my little pumpkin!
